Saturday 31st January - E & D group organise a ParkRun

Today we had a team of volunteers who took over to 'organise' the Astbury Mere ParkRun (with help from the local experts). It went really well with over 130 runners successfully processed!

Thanks to all those who helped (and offered to help) and well done to those that ran

Saturday 24th January - Tour of Bollington

The start
On a bright, cold and breezy morning 24 brave runners came along to experience the delights of Bollington and Kerridge.

We ran for approx 4.7 miles with extra distance added to the Garmins/ mobile phone apps of those who looped back.

We set off towards Neil's Hill via the Middlewood, increasing the effort level with a fartlek session to increase the heart rate.
Once at Neil's Hill, we then did some hill reps and Wendy made good use of her shiny new whistle. Everyone worked very hard and put maximum effort in when running up the hill.

We then set off back to the Skate Park via the canal , all of which was downhill or flat, which was a relief to those tired legs after the speed work and hill reps that they had endured.
This was a tough session, both in terms of distance and effort, well done everyone !

Saturday 10th January - Buxton Road Lollipop

The start
At 7.00am the wind was howling and the rain was lashing down ... but 18 E group runners braved the thought of a soaking and put their shoes on...and by 9.00am the weather was fine again (we were very lucky). Welcome to two new group members - Louise (Brown!) and Kate.

The route today was just under 4 miles (route below) with a fair amount of mud (thick mud, wet mud, slippy mud ... all types of mud). There were some new shoes on display ... they did not look quite so clean at the end!

The looping back was excellent - well done. We all enjoyed going 'along' Buxton Road (Jenny has redefined the word 'along' so it now includes any form of uphill slope.... ;-) ).

Well done everybody ... and a good 'post run' coffee at the Tytherington Club.

See you at the track for the Mixed Ability Relay next week...
