Tuesday 29th April - Introduction to Orienteering

MDOC's orienteering for beginners sessions in the lovely Lyme Park start in April.

Come along, improve your map reading, do a bit of speed work and have a laugh about terrible route choices in a fun and friendly environment. It's great for kids too, so bring them along :)

Saturday 26th April - Middlewood speed & hill work

The Start
Wow - we were lucky with the weather today - it was pouring down at 7.00am but by 9.00am when we warmed up it was fine and sunny!

21 runners out today including two new runners (Catharine & Roxanne). The session was a hard one for a first session but everyone was supportive and we ended the session with the same number that we started with - always a bonus. So, a speed pyramid, a paced 1000m and some hill work - good effort.

Coffee/tea/teacakes afterwards were well deserved.

Thursday 24th April - Mobberley 'Round the Runway'

Seven E Grouper's set off  alongside 423 other runners, from a country lane near Mobberley Station for the annual
"Round the Runway Race", organised by Wilmslow Running club.

On a balmy warm spring day, we made our way around 5.3 miles of gorgeous quiet country lanes, tracks and a rough terrain stretch alongside Manchester Airport, where close up incoming planes spurred us on.

Just over half way round, we crossed under the runway, along an amazing lit tunnel, where the river flowed through and trees and countryside were visible at the other end. This was a spectacular firm favourite with the team, however the surprise steep hill after, was not quite what we would call our friend!

All seven finished in great form and in great time with Jordan leading the pack. A really fantastic event and a fabulous route.

Well done everyone!

Mel

Saturday 19th April - Prestbury Lollipop

The start ...
A great turnout today - 21 'Easter Runners' including guest appearances by 'Dangerous Dave' and 'Marathon Harry'. After a quick vote on our route choice we opted for a 'Prestbury Lollipop with Golf Course extension'. D-D did the warm up and then we were off. The recent warm weather had dried the mud up a lot and conditions underfoot were good.

It was good to see a few faces that had not been out on Saturday for a while and there was some very good running - I have definitely noticed an improvement in both speed and technique from a number of the group (well done).

Afterwards there was also a good turn-out for the post-run debrief (with coffee) at the Tytherington Club.
